Project Title: Blue Carbon Stock Monitoring of Mangrove Restoration Sites in TBPPS
Reports to: Project Manager & Blue Carbon Consultant

The Research Assistant will generally assist the research proponents in the full implementation of the study entitled, “Blue Carbon Stock Monitoring of Mangrove Restoration Sites in Ticao Burias Pass Protected Seascape (TBPPS)” under the HSBC
Mangrove Ecosystem Management project.

SCOPE OF WORK

  1. Assist the Blue Carbon Consultant and Project Manager in field work coordination and local consultations;
  2. Actively participate in the training/orientation on primary data collection methodology for mangrove carbon stock assessment/monitoring;
  3. Assist in the determination of sampling sites and preparation of sampling materials & equipment;
  4. Lead the field data collection activities;
  5. Organize and analyze primary data;
  6. Assist in laboratory analysis of field samples;
  7. Assist in the preparation of progress and final reports; and
  8. Participate in the presentation of the progress and final reports.

DELIVERABLES

  1. Monthly accomplishment report
  2. Primary data for mangrove blue carbon and sediment analyses results

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Graduate of Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Biology, Fisheries or any related field.
  2. Experience in fieldwork and data collection on mangrove community.
  3. Knowledge on mangrove species identification is an advantage.
  4. Able to help plan and prepare logistics required for field activities (site preparation, materials, equipment).
  5. Can lead field data collection activities.
  6. Organized and able to handle, organize and analyze primary data using basic tools (e.g. Excel).
  7. Able to assist in laboratory analysis of field samples.
  8. Good communication and writing skills for preparing reports and presentations on time.
  9. Can work well with the project team and coordinate with local stakeholders.
  10. Willing to travel for field data collection and report to Donsol Field office
