WWF-PH’s “Panda on the Move” kicks off with Lucky Chinatown Mall

September, 02 2025

The World Wide Fund for Nature Philippines (WWF-PH) and Megaworld Lifestyle Malls officially launch Panda on the Move Conservation and Fundraising Roadshow this September 3 at Lucky Chinatown Mall.

Leading the kick-off is WWF-PH ambassador Janine Gutierrez, who will host the first fundraising hour alongside WWF’s beloved panda mascot, Chi-Chi. A part of the Panda family since 2017, Janine has actively supported WWF-PH’s youth-focused initiatives, such as the Lahat Konektado campaign during International Youth Day 2025 and field visits at WWF-PH partner communities in Donsol, Sorsogon, underscoring her long-standing advocacy for sustainability.

Adding a powerful visual dimension to the roadshow, Gab Mejia presents a stunning photo exhibit of Philippine environments that weaves together stories of the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, ancestral knowledge, and cultural connections---inviting the public to reflect on today’s socio-political and ecological challenges. A National Geographic Explorer, WWF-PH Board Trustee, and conservation photographer, his work highlights the beauty and urgency of protecting biodiversity.

“Panda on the Move is about bringing conservation closer to people. By creating spaces where families can learn, connect, and take part in meaningful action, we hope to empower more Filipinos to stand with us in protecting nature. Every small step---whether it’s supporting programs, shifting to sustainable lifestyles, or becoming a regular donor---helps build the sustainable future we all aspire to,” said Cloda Marie Urquico, WWF-PH Head for Resource Generation and Partnerships.

Following the Lucky Chinatown Mall leg from September 1-4, Panda on the Move will also visit key Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, including Southwoods Mall, Venice Grand Canal Mall, Eastwood City Mall, and Uptown Bonifacio in the coming weeks. Select venues will feature learning sessions from WWF-PH conservation experts with practical tips on sustainable living, as well as as the chance to catch special appearances from WWF-PH ambassadors and Chi-Chi the Panda.

Protecting the planet is a shared responsibility. Through Panda on the Move, WWF-PH invites the public to experience its conservation work up close, discover easy ways to live more sustainably, and take part in programs that safeguard nature and support local communities.
