I would like to make a strong suggestion. Since these media partners have openly supported Earth Hour 2011, why don’t they prove it in action themselves by not just closing their lights at their complexes, but sign off their radio and television stations on the air COMPLETELY for one hour, then provide for a 10 minute advisory before they sign off to explain to us their reason for shutting down from the airwaves. That action will save far more energy than just the lights. Thanks for considering my suggestion.
Hi There Ed! Thanks very much for your suggestion. In fact, in the previous Earth Hour 2011 Campaign, partners such as National Geographic had committed to stop airing for the duration of Earth Hour, which was from 8:30-9:30PM. We are currently working on securing partners of the like and will take your suggestion well into consideration for indeed, suspending air time for the time being does lessen energy consumption and therefore, decreases carbon emissions as well. Please keep yourself posted through our Facebook fan profile page as well through facebook.com/wwf.philippines to see what else you can do to help the Campaign! Cheers to another Earth Hour!
