Integrated Conservation and Development of the Turtle Islands Heritage Protected Area

The Turtle Islands has been regarded as an important nesting area for sea turtles in Southeast Asia. With WWF-UK support, WWF-Philippines completed the development phase working on community-based health, livelihood and community education in 2004. The goodwill generated sets the stage for broad-based support for sea turtle conservation. For the next phase, the project will help set up a workable management scheme for the conservation of turtle eggs, which was disrupted with institutional conflicts arising from the ban in the collection of turtle eggs by the national government.To know more about this project,
