Project L.I.F.E. (Learning Interdependently For the Environment)Project LIFE is WWF-Philippines' flagship environmental education program. Its primary goal is to educate and motivate Filipinos to participate in the conservation and protection of our country's natural environment. Project LIFE especially tries to reach out to our children and the youth who are the future stewards of our natural resources, and the hope of our nation and way of life. Well received and lauded by local government units and schools during the first year run, WWF-Philippines' Project LIFE sends a van of traveling exhibits and multi-media interactive education program to coastal communities to educate the children and youth on the great wealth of and the importance of conserving the environment. Typically, a visit of the LIFE project starts out with the curious but amused stares from members of the community as the van arrives at a local school or plaza. The eager hands of children and adults, offering their help to set up the exhibits, replace this curiosity quickly. Then an entire day of learning about environmental issues in an atmosphere of fun and games follows, with participation by school children and facilitation by the teachers and community leaders. Activities include, but are not limited to: interactive exhibits, environmental games, a series of videos, and a brief puppet show or a nature skit. Information materials such as activity books, posters and storybooks are also distributed. Issues relating to marine, forests, climate change, and fisheries are discussed after the activities.
